CRIMINAL DEFENSE
Our policy is simple and clear: We will meet with you, at no cost, to fully understand the implications of your charge and develop a strategy to help. That first meeting will show you that the Friedman Law Firm is only concerned about you. We want to ease your mind and answer whatever questions you have.
In the State of Michigan, drunk driving is one of the most prosecuted crimes. This type of offense is often associated with other related crimes such as driving while under the influence of narcotics (even if prescribed by your physician) or boating while under the influence. Usual results are one or more of the following:
- jail time
- hefty fines
- license repeal
- probation
- random drug and alcohol testing
- educational classes
- community service
Our knowledgeable attorneys will help you avoid jail time and other severe consequences, such as losing your driver's license. We critically examine all of the factors involved—the police report, traffic stop, breath-tests, roadside tests and the breathalyzer. Then we look at the pluses and minuses of taking your case to trial. Sometimes, your best outcome might come as a result of our negotiation skills, where we obtain a favorable plea bargain in order to ensure no jail time or loss of your driver's license. We will always do our very best to lessen the negative impact on your life.
Michigan has very severe penalties for drug crimes. They can put you in jail or take away your driver's license for a very long time. Our skilled criminal defense attorneys are well-known for our commitment to excellence in protecting your rights, and it all begins with our rock-solid reputations with Prosecutors and Judges. We take extra care when reviewing the police reports and evidence against you so we can determine your best course of action. Often, a pre-trial motion involving such concepts as illegal search and seizure or unlawful arrest can result in the dismissal of your case.

PAROLE & PROBATION VIOLATION HEARINGS
Unfortunately, after being released from incarceration, people make mistakes that violate the terms of their parole or probation. The courts don't like this and often bring a far more severe sentence than that which was originally imposed.
We can help you with the court; our success in minimizing the consequences of these types of violation is proof. We take the time to understand your position and fully explore alternative sentences, doing our best to keep you out of jail or prison.
Passed in 2008, the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act is designed to allow licensed patients and caregivers the right to possess, grow, and/or distribute medical marijuana. Unfortunately, this Act is highly controversial, as many prosecutors, judges and police officers disagree with this law, which inevitably leads to arrests, charges and public humiliation. We are committed to protecting you and your rights by staying informed and active in this evolving issue. We will fight for your rights--regardless of whether you are a patient, caregiver or owner/operator of a medical marijuana dispensary.
Kids mess up, and courts can be harsh. Whether it's a misdemeanor or a felony, the entire family suffers and the child's future is greatly jeopardized. The Friedman Law Firm is extremely dedicated to helping children fully understand what they did wrong and the possible impact of their actions on the rest of their life. We not only work to minimize the consequences of the crime, but we recommend and help design an appropriate treatment plan that helps to protect against future misconduct.
Remember: Certain juvenile offenses may be treated as a felony in adult court, not within the cozier confines of juvenile court.
We strive to protect your children and provide them with the quality attention and skilled defense that they deserve.
FELONY NON-PAYMENT OF CHILD SUPPORT
The Child Support Enforcement Program was created to make sure that child support payments are made regularly and in the correct amount. When a parent doesn't pay the whole amount, or doesn't pay at all, enforcement begins with the threat of contempt proceedings, use of income withholding orders, tax intercept, professional and/or driver's license suspension, and possible incarceration.
As is most often the case, the non-paying party feels trapped because they simply don't have the money to satisfy these obligations. The Friedman Law Firm has extensive knowledge and understanding of the law and knows how to navigate through the system, allowing the non-paying party the opportunity to get out from under the legal pressures and work out a payment plan that is fair for all parties.
